HRRC's Response:
A recent UN Scientific Panel report issued by 234 experts across 66 countries an "unprecedented" state of climate change. Scientists state that extreme weather will increase in the future due to an "unequivocal" human impact on the global climate.
This report indicates a climate "code red for humanity" referred to by UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres. The report indicates that the majority of human activities contributing to this is "roughly divided between leaks from natural gas production, coal mining and landfills on one side, and livestock and manure handling on the other.".
HRRC urges international governing bodies and organizations to recognize that climate change is intrinsically connected to human rights, and that it is in the interest of all people to reduce or eliminate the reliance on fossil fuels.
