News Brief

The United States has expanded its trade restrictions against Chinese firms, targeting two companies accused of using forced labor in the Xinjiang region of China, where the Chinese government faces allegations of systematic human rights abuses against the Uyghur population.

The Department of Homeland Security (DHS) announced bans on imports from the companies, which were added to the Uyghur Forced Labor Prevention Act (UFLPA) entity list. This list includes 75 entities across multiple industries accused of benefiting from forced labor involving Uyghur Muslims and other minority groups. The trade ban reflects the U.S. government’s growing focus on human rights in its trade policies. It is also part of a broader effort to rid its supply chain of goods tied to forced labor in Xinjiang.
