HRRC urgently calls for an immediate stop to the devastating human rights violations affecting civilians in southern Lebanon, driven by the conflict with Israel.

News Brief

There is a devastating human rights crisis facing civilians in southern Lebanon. The attacks since October 7, 2023, when hostilities reignited between Israel and the terrorist organizations Hamas and Hezbollah, have had a major impact on civilians in southern Lebanon. Due to the strikes that targeted Hezbollah positions near residential areas, many families have been forced to leave their homes.

The forced displacement has created several challenges for Lebanon’s infrastructure, which the influx of displaced people has exacerbated. Hospitals and shelters are overwhelmed, struggling to provide adequate care and housing under severe resource constraints.

This article narrates the story of Nour, a mother who used to live with her two children in Nabatieh, located about 43 miles southeast of Beirut, Lebanon. Nour and her children have been forced to leave their home and are deeply impacted by the ongoing conflict. Furthermore, the stories of Farah’s family and Mohamad’s family, who are forced to leave everything behind with no clear sense of safety or future, highlight the emotional and physical toll of the war.
