HRRC's Response:
Cuba has experienced unrest and protests since July 11, when thousands of people took to the streets in peaceful protest over the economy, shortages of medicines, the response to COVID-19, and harsh restrictions on freedom of expression and assembly.
The Cuban government and Communist Party of Cuba (CPC) have been detaining and arresting journalists and protestors, using excessive force.
HRRC supports the UN Human Rights Chief in urging the Cuba to release all detainees and respect all human rights. Further, President Miguel Díaz-Canel and Cuban authorities must be held accountable for their actions.
