Ava Pakosta is a recent graduate from the University of Wisconsin-Madison, where she majored in both Legal Studies and Sociology and received certificates in Criminal Justice and Chicana/o & Latina/o studies. She currently works in criminal law in the suburbs of Chicago, IL and plans to pursue a masters degree in the future as well as to become a published author.
During Ava's time at UW-Madison, she enrolled in a course called Human Rights in Law and Society, which sparked her interest in human rights research. She is especially interested in the connection between human rights and our criminal justice system, but her research is not confined to this topic. Ava is thrilled to be a part of the HRRC team and continue expanding her knowledge of human rights, while also educating others.
